Adjunct Instructor in Mathematics

The School of Arts & Science at the University of Bridgeport (Bridgeport, CT) invites applications for an adjunct instructor in Mathematics commencing fall 2017. Instructor will teach part-time, Math 102: The Nature of Mathematics and Math 103: Introduction to College Algebra and Statistics in the General Education Mathematics curriculum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching general education mathematics courses offered by the department
  • Teaching in a variety of instructional settings and times including days, evenings, weekends, and off campus
  • Maintaining currency in pedagogy
  • Communicating effectively with students and staff
  • Contributing data for student learning outcome development, assessment, and analysis at all general education level
  • Participating in meetings for course instructors
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students, and submit records to the Director of General Education Mathematics and Registrar upon the completion of the course
  • Any other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related field
  • Contact information of three references familiar with candidate’s teaching work
  • Official graduate transcripts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve course learning objectives with engaging, student-centered strategies
  • At least one year of successful college-level teaching experience (can include part-time teaching)
