A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Chemistry or a related field with at least seven years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or an equivalent combination of relevant industrial experience in Physical Chemistry. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Proven competence in successful sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation and management of research projects, curriculum development and strong management/organisational and mentorship skills. Competence to teach at least three of the following courses at both underand post- graduate levels: Chemical Thermodynamics and Kinetics; Surface Chemistry and Colloids; Quantum Chemistry and Molecular Spectroscopy; Biophysical and Bioinorganic Chemistry; Environmental Pollution, Monitoring and Remediation and General Chemistry. Competence to assume academic leadership, to establish professional networks and to maintain links with industry, as well as experience in developing postgraduate programmes. Sound research profile including twenty (20) peer-reviewed journals/books/conference proceedings and successful supervision of at least three Master’s (research) students and one PhD student.
